WTF! In the last hour, 5 new model applications have circulated past my desk and only one guy has pubes?? My reaction? Cut to a violent blood curdling scream and the image of a young Nancy Kerrigan holding her knees like dashed Olympic dreams— WHY!!!!! End scene.
Delete, delete, delete, delete…
O.K. now that’s out of the way I can climb up on my soapbox for a minute to vent about this disturbing trend.
Personally, I don’t get it. First off its just creepy. Sci-Fi channel creepy. Who wants to look like a baby down there? Seriously? News flash you don’t feel like a baby down there… Even shaved to the skin its always rough to the touch. Prickly skin causes breakouts and rashes. And then it gets cold. You notice how pubic skin when cold looks a lot like a plucked turkey basting in lube? yeah. Did you know shaving promotes shrinkage? No natural insulation. If you’re shaving to look bigger forget about it unless you carry around your own heat lamp. I had a friend who shaved all his pubes off once, but he had crabs… in that case I guess I was grateful.
Professionally… it’s a nightmare!
I prol’ly wont hire you if you apply with baby smooth photos. But what if a model applied with pubed pics and shows up shorn? That’s a total shave and switch! Totally unforgivable. It puts me the producer in the worst situation: Do you send good guys home because of a taste-judgment error? They go home broke and pissed off and we take a loss on their travel expenses. If I shoot him anyways I’ve compromised the product? Everyone loses, so don’t shave! For the bottom line let’s rewind back to the stubble-breakout-rash issue. Now picture that in HD.
You are a man not a boy, why not look like one? If you think you’re too ‘bushy’ trimming is acceptable if you achieve a natural look. Models should buy a manscaper or male grooming kit. Every drugstore has one. And remember be prudent about it… that means trim not sheer! Work with your natural hair patterns, do not make shapes, or squares or Hitler staches! When in doubt just leave it until we can advise you in person. In the case of pubes less is NOT more.
I’m a Dicktator!
Models and Agents! After the last plucked pube fiasco I’ve decided not to leave it to chance. Effective immediately all models considered for work will have to submit to a pube check. Which isn’t as bad as it sounds, just text a selfie taken that moment. You don’t even need to be hard. If you pass you’re hired, if you’re not ready hopefully you can be in the next one… provided you can keep your razor in check. I’m sorry it has come to this guys, but in the words of the mighty Detox Icunt… ‘I’ve had it… Officially!‘
A familiar question in the last 7 years, guys ask me… ‘Should I do porn?’
Again recently I’ve been approached by a hot fucker with a serious ‘it’ factor about whether he should be a performer. And while you’d think I’d be all ‘hell yeaaaah,’ it may surprise you to find out I don’t encourage men unrealistically.
People ask me if I ever regret my decision. I say, ‘Only when I’m reading the blogs.’ A more honest answer would depend on how I felt that day. It’s a privilege to have anyone’s audience. Being an entertainer of any type, you open your life to scrutiny. Still, nothing quite prepares you for how mean people can be. It’s impossible to not take things personally when it’s about you. Maybe that’s where the personality breakdowns start. If you do this, be clear you will trade your ‘anonymity’ for a public life. You may later miss it. People who have seen me in action before I retired tend to have a preconceived idea of who I am. But what if that person has changed, and aged. It’s something you’ll have to navigate, how you’ll live with your own image.
Ok now that over half the room has cleared, if the few remaining were hoping to email, or tweet me, or Facebook me to ask if YOU should do porn— here’s my standard list of things you should consider first:
1. Think of the revenue you’ll earn as a part time job or supplemental income. No one can fuck full time.
2. There’s no such thing as easy money.
3. Are you a sexual person or just really pretty and looking for easy cash options? If you are the latter you’re going to have a bad time. Like any job, you’ll have more fun if you are doing what you love. You’ll also go further as people will enjoy your scenes more.
4. Do nothing out of desperation. Do it for a short time while it’s novel and fun. Have an exit strategy.
5. Treat it like a job. If you become ‘famous’ keep the perspective that your porn personality is a job. Keep your private life private. Keep special joys all to yourself.
6. Praise is fickle.
7. ‘Fame’ is an amplifier, it fixes nothing, it heals nothing. Often it’s the contrary. Get your personal life in order BEFORE you open yourself up to the world.
8. Expect that everyone you know will find out eventually. The internet is global.
9. What is done cannot be undone.
The worst thing I can say about porn is it’s an ego driven business. For that reason I think you should be at least 21 or even older to do movies, but as it stands the age of consent is 18. Take yourself too seriously healthy people stop relating you. There are a lot of fragile egos in this business. Fact. A few nut jobs?…for sure! Stay grounded son, and keep your real friends in your life and close by.
The best thing I can say about porn is it can be a hell of a lot of fun for sexual exhibitionists craving the experience. It has been a high point of my life for sure. From what I can see despite the financial downturn models are still traveling and doing appearances, and some are even having a good time. Contrary to what you read on blogs, there are several kind-hearted people in the business too. Read and remember: People we rehire aren’t just good at what they do, they are responsible and good to be around.
Last bit of truth applies to every facet of life. You usually get back the energy you put out. Come at this from a place of lack you’ll come up short. Listen to jaded disgruntled people, you’ll turn that way.
Will you regret it? This is a question left up to you. I don’t know many people who leave any business unhappy who haven’t failed at attaining something they wanted or expected. Be clear about what you want and what you’re doing. Stop when its time. Do NOT underestimate numbers 8 and 9!

Hey readers, this week Raging Stallion/Monster Bang released my 60th title as a director, ‘Lowdown Dirty.’ So at 60 do I qualify for AARP??? My haters probably think so!
This movie is classic Cruz for the fans… right up my alley so to speak. ‘Lowdown Dirty‘ was particularly fun to shoot and cast because I love a man who drives the energy, lowers his inhibitions and keeps his monster cock hard for me for hours. In this film I give you 8 men who do just that… give their all for us. Guys you did me proud!
The studio hired a graffiti artist to tag the basement around the time I was looking to do a gritty rough all sex feature. So we filmed this one right under the street (the part of our property that extends beneath the city sidewalk.) You can hear people walking by overhead, real life city life carrying on above while we carry on underground! Lowdown Dirty!
I actually volunteered for this extra project when it showed up on the calendar and it turns out I was glad with the results when it was turned in. Hard work pays off! And hard work gets YOU off!
Special shout out to my cover man Shawn Wolfe, he is featured left: still life with penis. I see a lot of myself in him. He gobbles up cock with the enthusiasm I did as a newcomer. Or is it greed? We’re not the same genetic type exactly but my fans should follow him. He has something special going on right now! A spark that’s lighting fires. His scene with Tommy Defendi, who returns as our exclusive in this feature, is supremely energetic. I was definitely not concealing my boner all through the filming of their shoot.
All of my guys knocked this one out the park for you… but then we have so much fun in the studio together, you can’t really call it work. Thanks Dale Cooper, Alexander Garrett, Warrick Cade, James Ryder, Johnny Parker and long time favorite Christopher Daniels. You rock my world hot fuckers!
This movie goes out to my special fans who have followed me from the beginning and supported my career growth. Happy 60th hot fuckers! Still going and growing stronger together. Love you guys.

Official Press Release: “San Francisco (May 3, 2013) – Director Steve Cruz presents his 60th feature film with the release of Lowdown Dirty by San Francisco based Raging Stallion Studios. The Monster Bang brand continues to deliver “Big Dicks and the Holes they Fill” as Lowdown Dirty focuses on hung studs and hot bottoms on a graffiti-covered sexual playground. Rising superstar, Exclusive Shawn Wolfe shares a scene with Tommy Defendi, who appears in his first feature after re-signing as a Raging Stallion Exclusive.
These studs they play dirty, hard and tough. The guys are huge, and the action is intense. World-class director Steve Cruz brings the hottest men and biggest cocks and combines them in electric pairings mixed with sweat, saliva and spooge to create some of the hottest man-on-man action fans have ever seen.
Raging Stallion exclusive Tommy Defendi makes a definitive return, partnered with shooting star, hottie Shawn Wolfe. They tear up the turf while wringing satisfaction from every millimeter of Tommy’s 9 1/2 inches. A rugged Christopher Daniels tests the depths of his holes against the drilling power of young bear Johnny Parker, in a flip-flop that rocks the set. Then burly Warrick Cade and smooth James Ryder challenge preconceived notions about dads and lads when they employ a pile of tires as a platform for a Lowdown Dirty collision of body parts, not stopping until the rubber meets the load. Dale Cooper is a guy who makes senses tingle when his cock starts to rise. Handsome and massive-cocked Alexander Garrett hits every one of Dale’s erogenous zones, inside and out, in another flip that summons forth rivers of jizz from both. Fans will be getting Lowdown Dirty from the moment they pop this DVD in their player, squeezing out load after load.
“I was looking to film a gritty inner city sex flick at the same time the studio was bringing in a graffiti artist to tag a set. We merged ideas, cast a hot group of horndogs, and shot directly under the streets of San Francisco for my 60th feature film Lowdown Dirty,” states Director Steve Cruz. “The highpoint of the film is a bang-on scene between our returning exclusive Tommy Defendi and new Exclusive Shawn Wolfe. When the director has wood you know it’s good, and I was hard all through the filming of that scene.”
“Lowdown Dirty is Monster Bang at its best!” exclaims Chris Ward. “Hall of Fame director Steve Cruz doing some of his best work; two of the hottest exclusives to ever work for Raging, Tommy Defendi and Shawn Wolfe – in a scene together; six more big dicked studs and insatiable bottoms and a cool, edgy set for them to get Lowdown Dirty on – truly spectacular erotica that’s guaranteed to get fans off again and again.”
It’s been a period of mourning… but life and sex and recreation, they go on!

Just in time to celebrate the release of my favorite film to date as a director. ‘Addicted‘ was shot on location last autumn in Madrid on the eve of my 40th birthday. The models are supremely sexy! The sex scenes are ALL ridiculously hot, so hot we even got a visit from Madrid police during the outdoor scene between Damien Crosse and Alex Marte. That event inspired them to film a scene with a similar plot recently… in the real live version the police were almost apologetic about the intrusion and unlike any visit I’ve experienced in the States we were not shut down but instead the police kindly showed us areas better suited for filming on the roof out of the view of neighbors we did not know could see. Forget about the ‘land of the free’ and opportunity, at this time, it’s definitely not America.
Bruno and I had a blast making this film for sure. Normally being both headstrong directors we’ll avoid skirmish by each directing individual scenes within the project, each scene having only one director… the exception to this is the live shows where I drive the action and Bruno is support camera and all photography. But in ‘Addicted’ we integrated our videography and directing styles by passing the camera back and forth between positions and takes. In this setting it really worked and even held cohesion, maybe because on this trip work was like a vacation. I was connected with the joy I felt in the old days of shooting porn before the economic downturn, especially the early Hard Friction shoots when everything was location driven. You’ll fast see why this is a can’t miss film in my directing compendium for any of my fans. We’re very excited!

Official press release: “San Francisco-based Raging Stallion Studios streets a new major release, Addicted, filmed in Madrid, Spain and directed by Steve Cruz and Bruno Bond. In this inventive and intense feature, Francesco D’Macho is captured making his way around the Spanish capital waiting for his next fix. D’Macho is Addicted. Not to drugs, sex or alcohol. He’s a voyeur. He stalks hot men, with a camera in one hand and his cock in the other.
Every day Francesco D’Macho puts himself in harm’s way. He knows from how Damien Crosse and Alex Marte kiss, the way their pants are tented, they intend to hit it. With his shaven head, bright tatts and sinewy arms, it’s hard for Francesco to be inconspicuous, but high-powered binoculars afford up-close views of a hard-bodied flip-fuck. Francesco wants to catch Sergi Serrano and Scott Carter in the act. Being Addicted drives him to plant cameras in their apartment…and wait. Dark, smooth Sergi is a head taller than pale, furry Scott, but height doesn’t matter when you’re on your knees or on your back. These guys sweat enough to fill a tub.
Francesco grows bolder each time addiction strikes. He hides in the bedroom while Goran thumbs Massimo Blade’s ass prior to a writhing plowing…and leaves a sticky spot on the floor. Lucio Saints and Tomy Hawk tease each other by cock jousting in boldly colored undies. Each takes the full measure of his lover’s cock in his ass, but Francesco blows his cover…and now he must blow Tommy and Lucio. Being Addicted has its risks. Directors Steve Cruz and Bruno Bond raised the heat on their trip to Madrid and now fans can bask in it…and bask in a load of their own.
“We’re really excited about this release! Shooting on location in Metro Madrid, we captured sex cinema with renewed vision. And, with a perfect cast of rough, swarthy Spaniards, we felt truly inspired,” states co-director Steve Cruz. “Francesco D’Macho gives a stellar performance as the sex stalker, and he maintains the sexy, ominous mood that defines the tone of Addicted.”
“With the help of Damien Crosse and Francesco D’Macho, we were able to round up a cast of extremely hot, masculine European guys and set them up in situations to bring the connected, sexual heat,” adds co-director Bruno Bond. “Addicted delivers the kind of intense, aggressive sexuality that Raging Stallion fans expect, in the cinematic setting of modern Madrid. This movie is the best that Steve and I have collaborated on so far!”
“Two words: Award Contender. Addicted is distinctly Raging Stallion, has big-dicked sexy European studs throughout, and captures some of Steve Cruz and Bruno Bond’s best directing work,” exclaims Chris Ward, Raging Stallion President. “The concept is scorching, the sex is off the dial, and appearances by superstars Damien Crosse and Francesco D’Macho only increase the sexual power of Addicted.”

It seemed like yesterday when we were on the rooftop of a San Francisco building, the sun was shining and everything seemed perfect– for about 2 hours until the police showed up and shut us down. But before that could happen we took this. You were one of my favorite men to watch in person or through a lens… and I looked forward to the next movie we talked about filming together in June. Sadly that will not happen now.
I was in awe of you and working with you as a performer in Focus/Refocus was a highlight of my career as a model. Even more so when I’d film you. Each time was a kind of magic I’ll never forget… in the rain on a vineyard, in the scorching sun on a horse farm. All of your friends will agree that your most outstanding quality was not your outer beauty which was legendary— but your buoyant heart. Always upbeat and cracking jokes… we shared this self deprecating humor and nothing was sacred… you always lightened my heart and made me smile, laugh. Fans may or may not know you were a healer and a lover of animals and hiking in nature. Those experiences grounded you. In my opinion you had a lot to teach and inspire in others.
To me it seemed you loved life so much. Always laughing, always striving. I can only imagine the pain you suffered emotionally with your recent tragedy and loss and it breaks my heart that you had to live through that and that it drove you to an end. Much will be said about your death, and perhaps some will try to draw a line between what they think they know about you and what you did for a living. That’s inevitable. But the coarse details of your death are not your life, they are not who you really are.
As we get older we lose friends, I’ve lost a few too soon. There’s been a lot of crossing over lately. It’s sad for us who carry on, because we can’t be with you. It does not mean we will ever forget you. The more I live the more I learn that there is less and less I truly understand about this life and why we live it. So I have faith in a truth that it’s going to be ok, you’re going to be ok and at peace in a place where your greatest joys and comforts and love exists and you can fully be the person you always were deep inside. I love you my friend, and I’m the lucky guy that got to be touched by your presence- if but for a short time.
Oh and when its my time if I’m lucky you may see me again: just don’t wear that crown of thorns or at least not with that skirt. Always remember look in the mirror before you step out the door and take one thing off. In your case maybe 2!
(His response: you would never be that lucky!)

Updated March 11, 2013.
I was 21 at Chelsea Piers, New York Gay Pride 1994. Joey Stefano came on to us, high. He was really high. My friend and I laughed at him. He ran off. Truthfully if he were not a mess I and I was alone I may have actually gone off with him. I knew his movies. I watched ‘Splash’ just to see him in it. But I was young. We were cunty gay bitches in our 20′s. And he, like all celebrities, was a source of entertainment to me.
I never would know the life I would inherit later, or that I would know, like him — a total lack of anonymity. That I would know addiction in the same way. And that my whole career would be earned on the back of pioneer performers like him who paved the way for bottoms to become stars. Joey self destructed only months after I met him. He died of a drug overdose at 26.
There’s a sad bleakness like a cloud over the industry and it smells like death. I’ve lost people I loved, I’ve lost colleagues I probably could have appreciated more. It’s very close to home. And what is the difference between a suicide and an O.D.? -both are self destruction, one is more left to chance.
So for Nick Iacona aka Joey Stefano, for Wilfried Chevalier aka Wilfried Knight, for Peter Kozma aka Arpad Miklos, for director John Bruno, for Dror Barak aka Roman Ragazzi, and James Naughtin aka Erik Rhodes— I want to remind you that though we took on a life of entertainment, deep inside are we’re just another facet of you. And like you we also have to manage and sometimes reconcile a private life with our public life. Only we face our self reflection while under a microscope.
Blogs have really given public opinion a platform. Anyone with the ability to read Captcha and create a fake email address can hide behind a screen name and hurl venom. It may even give the extremely low a false sense of power and satisfaction, perhaps for what they can’t accomplish in their own lives. This is blog commenting today. All in good fun right? But is this the world you want to live in? It’s easy to forget the people who entertain us are people. With hopes and hearts and feelings just like you.
I know nothing will change by writing this: Bloggers will not stop stirring and unearthing shit because its their job to drive the traffic and maybe sometimes they’re getting a surge from the power. Comments wont stop because everyone has an opinion or gets bored and makes one up… everyone wants to heard and maybe, in some cases, who else will listen?
My hope is someone out there may realize they are hooked into an endless and pointless cycle of negativity, a type of addiction… and maybe they’ll read this and set themselves free. NOT with a gun or a ridiculous amount of drugs but by simply walking away.
As for Joey, I will always feel bad that I can never take that moment back and replace it with compassion.
We should be nicer to each other… because do overs in life rarely happen.
“Help! I’ve fallen and I can’t get it up…” should be the title of this pic Bruno and I took in between takes on the set of ‘Addicted‘ our next Raging Stallion feature due in the Spring. It kind of sums up my activity on this blog over the past season. Truth is, I have been just busy enough which is a huge improvement from so busy I might explode. I have a nice job and now thanks to moderation and the execs hearing my pleas… I’ve been enjoying a nice life and consequently less interested in public attention, so I’ve neglected you.
Catching up with Steve.
In the fall the Falcon/Raging Stallion Team went to Madrid where Bruno Bond and I direct two features together. The first completed is Falcon’s ‘Madrid Sexy.’ Four scenes shot throughout various locations throughout the city, woven together with postcard video clips of the spirit of the city by day. Classic Falcon. This should be available now. The second project is Raging Stallion’s ‘Addicted.’ There is a darker feeling to this movie and the sex is more adventurous, bordering on creeper. But it’s the project we’re most excited about because of the men, and the extra effort Francesco D’Macho put into his character. Bruno and I are in the editing room now.
I turned 40 in November, Bruno and I stayed in Europe and hopped a plane to Morocco to be fed and pampered by hot Moorish men. There we enjoyed a traditional Hamam and stayed in a beautiful Riad. We also stopped by Lisbon, since I am Portuguese, spent Halloween there and finally ended up in Paris on Midnight of my birthday. You turn 40 only once!
After the holidays we wrapped on a new Falcon double feature shot in Tahoe. The views were magnificent and the shoot was sexy and fun. Bruno really took the lead on this project allowing me to attend to personal affairs. I met the team days later and finished up the project as snow began to fall on the lake and mountains. Its all very pretty.
I’m in pre-production on a Monster Bang title that we’ll shoot in studio basement. They hired a spray paint artist to come in a tag up the walls. I got this job halfway through planning stages because another director wasn’t available. The idea’s conception was not entirely my own, I know nothing about this artist… I’m kind of an art snob so I am keeping fingers crossed. Still I jumped at this chance to direct since Monster Bang is where I tend to have the most fun. I quickly rustled up a rougher cast with muscle. I needed a little testosterone after filming all these perfect boys next door. I expect it to be a hot nasty time!
I’m also in the planning stages of a big Falcon project scheduled for the first week in March. On the scale of ‘Deep Inside’ it will release as 2 DVDs, but something special on the web. That’s all that’s fit to print as of yet.
For those of you curious about our creation process, a production schedule is planned the year forward. For example, December of 2012 the executives decided how many releases in each line we need and who is to direct them. At our studio they tried to be fair and give each director a taste of each line. So you will see me directing pretty much everything— Falcon features with classic clean guys to gritty Raging Stallion features which are more like where I started in this business. The public often wants you to be who they think you are. It’s great to work for a producer that gives opportunity for growth and creative versatility.
HardFriction.com has converted over to the main site, RagingStallion.com— which is great for us! Everything has been redesigned and its gorgeous. Recently we’ve had Rogan Richards, Leo Domenico, Shawn Wolfe, James Ryder and the return of Keiran in the live studio! Look for all these updates and DVD releases soon. The Best of Hard Friction DVD releases in the Spring! 3 years going strong!
To conclude this mega post… I wanna say that 2012 was intense thanks to all those fans and blogs who supported us in positive ways especially through the rocky parts. Thanks to Grabby’s for my Wall of Fame award also. We love you. Lucky 13 should be a fun and versatile year. Hopefully peaceful and safe for all.
