The Real Steve Cruz
I have a new interview out in the current issue of Handbook Men Quarterly. If you don’t know Handbook men its a cool zine… been out for years. This is his first interview piece. I had a good experience with Darren. I feel I was well represented. And it’s not all business actually, it gets personal. If you want to know the real me, its about as good as it gets. You’ll also get my latest pics shot by husband Bruno Bond.

HandbookMen: If you had to choose between being an adult film actor or director which is more satisfying personally?
SC: “When I was younger I loved being the center of attention, I was a true performer. That satisfied who I was at the time. I turn 40 this year, my mind is more stimulated behind the camera now. I’ve fully embraced the place I am, it’s a healthy evolution. Both have been equally gratifying and right in the moment. I’m so lucky.”
HandbookMen: Did you get any resistance from family members once they knew of your career choice?
SC: “Mom doesn’t like it, even though it comes with a full benefits package and a 401K investment. Dad doesn’t mind as much. I’ve always gone my own way regardless of disapproval. It would be nice to be understood but that’s a luxury that sometimes impedes growth. I don’t need it to be happy. They love me and that counts.”
HandbookMen: Do you see yourself as a family man, could you see yourself as a father?
SC: “I applaud gay men and women who want to raise families. For doing what would instinctively come natural to them, not letting the oppression of conservative narrow bigotry stop them. That has never been me. I’m too career oriented in an adult business to raise a child responsibly. We have our cats and each other.
HandbookMen: Are there any interests or hobbies you have that many of your fans may not know about?
SC: “Life outside of porn? I love to travel. My next vocation I need a business where I can travel. I play my bass guitar almost every day. When I find time, I like to paint. I used to sell my work. Even in retirement I’ll stay busy with creative projects.”
